The Calling Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2015

We love great wine. And we love great deals. So, when we score a great deal on a great wine we get all excited. This week we have the pleasure of telling you all about The Calling Pinot Noir which we scored a ridiculous deal on thanks to a supplier who needed to move some cases. This heady Pinot begins with a wonderful nose replete with aromas of roses, violets, cola, and toasty oak. One quick swirl and sniff is all it’ll take to quicken your pulse and start your mouth watering with anticipation for that first telltale sip. And what a sip it is! The first thing you’ll notice is a big ole pop of ripe red berries with raspberries and pomegranates leading the charge. Those are quickly followed up by extravagant layers of blood orange zest, toasted graham crackers, cedar, and kirsch liqueur. The wine is quite rich, especially for Pinot, and it shows some obvious evidence of barrel aging which makes it an ideal candidate for pairing with hearty meals like bouillabaisse, duck confit, or a really nice dry aged ribeye. Drink this luxurious Red while it’s raining and snowing outside this weekend or toss it in the cellar for up to 5 years to watch it evolve into something even more impressive than it is today. But don’t delay, we only managed to get a handful of cases at this silly low price. So there is a high likelihood that it won’t last through the weekend.
Food Pairing:
One of my favorite cool weather meals is white beans with roasted red peppers, diced kale, and crumbled italian sausage slowly simmered in good homemade chicken stock. Depending on my mood I’ll serve it over basmati rice or cornbread and I always garnish it with some shaved Reggiano and a couple of drips of great balsamic vinegar. It’s such simple comfort food and yet the flavors can be quite profound if you have good stock to use as the base. I think you’ll find that it provides a perfect foil for a vibrant young Pinot like this week’s special.
You MUST mention this special or print it out to receive the price on the above wine.
This price expires 4/22/2018 at 6pm and is limited to in-store quantities.
