What can you say about Jorn Nou Petit Tinto? Well, you can say that it’s freaking great to drink! That’s a good start, isn’t it? The nose is awash with sultry scents of warm berry preserves, pipe tobacco, and sweet vanilla. Once you take a quick whiff you’re going to rush right in for a sip. And what a sip it is! The palate is broad and generous with a mouth-coating texture that has a luxurious feel to it. Plump blackberries, black cherries, and blueberry preserves deliver waves of pleasure as the wine touches every nook and cranny of the palate on its way to the long, sleek finish. This is a thoroughly modern Red that was built with pleasure in mind. If your Memorial Day plans include a bit of grilling and chilling then Jorn Nou’s Petit Tinto is the Red wine to serve!
The 2016 Jorn Nou Petit Blanco is a full on show stopper! This White is utterly explosive on the nose and palate. Outstanding layers of honeysuckles, acacia blossoms, and fresh peaches drizzled with warm honey leap out of the glass to greet you on the nose. Seriously folks, this is the sort of nose simply cannot be ignored. And that’s not all. The palate offers up the kind of rich texture that we often associate with oaky Chardonnay but this one’s not oaked because the winery wanted to preserve all that brilliant fruit. Layers of peach and pear define the entry while hints of citrus, guava, and golden raisins deliver seemingly endless pleasure on the finish. This lush White will function perfectly alone as an aperitif but it has the stuffing to stand up to hearty fare like barbeque chicken, cedar plank salmon, or even chicken and cheese enchiladas with green chile.
