With the Father’s Day weekend upon us we know that Dad really wants a big juicy steak and a hearty glass of Cabernet to celebrate! Fire up the grill and grab some killer Napa Cellars Cab so that you can kick the weekend off in high style. Check out the bold aromatics on this one! Baking spices, pipe tobacco, damp cedar, dried rose petals, tar, and warm berry jam all make appearances on the nose which serves to create a wonderfully layered effect that just begs for pairing with a hearty meal. But, that’s not all. This impressive Napa Valley Cab offers up a wonderfully structured palate highlighted by striking notes of red currants, Luxardo cherries, and Christmas pudding. It’s disposition is young and fiery, making it an exciting and dynamic pour that is sure to evolve with each passing swirl and sip. When paired with a perfectly prepared piece of beef tenderloin topped with crumbled gorgonzola it will create the sort of memorable food and wine pairing experience that will make Father’s Day even more special for Dad. Food Pairing:
A young Napa Cabernet will pair up perfectly with a wide range of different meals. Just about anything with a nice fat and umami component should work well. Lately I’ve been working on a beef fried rice dish that uses cubes of New York strip and an assortment of thinly sliced veggies as well as ginger, garlic, soy sauce, and Chinese 5 Spice to create a simple and satisfying dish that only dirties up the wok. I think that it would be an outstanding pairing for this vibrant, young Cabernet if you’re looking to do something a bit less traditional than steak and baked potatoes this weekend.
