Aged through four seasons and from a blend of the top Bourbons around, this Ten Fidy has morphed into a monster of cranked up flavor. Espresso, burnt sugar, rich chocolate, caramel notes are now driving alongside the vanilla, oak, bourbon from the barrel and been smoothed out during maturation. Even at 12.9% (75 IBUs) it is cool and drinkable, letting each sip add more and more complexity.
On to the Tasting Notes:
Aromas of dark chocolate nibs, moderate vanilla, light oak earthiness, umami, caramel, and a touch of coconut. On the palate there is rich chocolate-syrup flavors up front. Sweet caramel and a touch of vanilla and coconut with coffee notes going into the aftertaste. Medium alcohol on the back end. Barrel notes are definitely there —vanilla, and slight tannin on the finish helps to dry it out. Big dark chocolate–dominated imperial stout. Touch of ethanol warming, a touch of umami, and a light pleasant anise/licorice thing that all flow together nicely. The alcohol level is quite balanced with the high chocolate and caramel notes. If not careful, one could consume a lot of this!
