Folks, we’d like you to please put your pinky fingers down because this week we’ve got a big ole juicy jammy Zinfandel for you! This isn’t one of those snooty wines that smells of white truffles and angel’s tears. No, this one is all about fruit! The entry is awash with blueberry jam and warm cherry pie filling. Crushed blackberries add a savory note to the mid-palate before lush vanilla, rose, and cedar come barrelling along on the finish. Is it profound? Probably not. Is it delicious? Heck yeah! Classic Dry Creek spice encircles the entire palate leaving a warm, somewhat boozy aftertaste that lingers eternally between sips. This is the barbeque wine of the summer! It is sure to be your slow smoked baby backs’ best friend. And don’t even get us started about good it’d be alongside a pulled pork sandwich served “Memphis Style” with slaw on top! Drink it from a jelly jar on the back porch when you’re home or put it right into a red Solo cup and kick your feet up in front of the campfire. But whatever you do with it, you’ve gotta swing by the shop and try it out first because this stuff is good! Come on!
Food Pairing:
Zinfandel is an easy wine to pair with food since it is so ripe and jammy. I love to serve it with ribs, mostly because I love some ribs so darn much. But I think you’ll find that it is an excellent foil for pizza or lasagna. It’ll be mighty nice all by itself too.
