Some wines are stimulating insofar as every sip makes you lust for another sip. And then there are wines that are satisfying because one quick sip is all it takes to put a smile on your face. Pine Ridge’s iconic Chenin Blanc Viognier blend is the sort of wine that falls squarely into the satisfying category. Every sip, every single one, will make you smile. Yes, it has a bit of lingering sugar on the finish. But it’s never cloying or desserty. Instead that modest kiss of Viognier sweetness serves as an exclamation point for all the wonderful fruit and acidity that Chenin Blanc is so famous for delivering. Striking notes of lemon verbena, honeysuckle nectar glistening in the sun, and freshly zested Meyer lemon tempt the tastebuds on the entry while nuances of candied ginger and cutie zest dance in perfect harmony on the finish. If there was a more perfect brunch wine then I certainly haven’t run across it yet. It will do things to your frittata or quiche that you didn’t think were possible. And that’s not all, pair this beauty with a warm bowl of Pad Thai or some deep fried coconut crusted shrimp for a food and wine tryst that is sure to leave an indelible impression on your palate. Seriously, folks, this is the kind of bottle that has so many applications that you really ought to snatch up a case. It is D-lish!
