The heat shows no signs of letting up on us anytime soon. As a result we’ve been getting a lot of requests for lighter bodied Reds that won’t weigh you down. So this week we’re rolling out the solution! Prends Moi! Is a lovely, exuberant glass of Red, unencumbered by oak barrel aging in order to keep it fresh, lively, and fun! Cool this Red down a few degrees. Don’t be scared! Once it’s in that 55 to 60 degree range you’ll be shocked by how juicy and accessible it is. The nose is plump and exuberant with fresh violets and cocktail cherry juice welling up with each swirl and sniff. On the palate you’ll find a wonderfully savory wine, one that never never feels tooty fruity or, heaven forbid, sweet. Instead it has a sanguine feel to it, developing into layers of crushed cherries tossed with dutch process cocoa, tar, black olive, and liquified mineral. It’s that absence of big over-ripe fruit that makes it a perfect candidate for a light chill since it is completely incapable of giving the impression of cheap sweetness. You want to talk about a wine that is just begging for a little bone-in lamb chop lollipop!?! This is it! Want a Red to pair with a classic Waldorf salad? Prends Moi! Gonna hook up with the kids for a little social distancing picnic with a cheese tray and some yummy cured meats and crusty bread? You can’t do better than this!
