"For Sinners and Saints alike," signals the creation of a line of newly branded beers from The Lost Abbey Brewery. These inspired beers will be made by Port Brewing Co. at their brewing facility in San Marcos, CA.
Rooted in the Monastic and artistic Belgian brewing traditions, The Lost Abbey brewery project is the brainchild of Vince and Gina Marsaglia, former head brewer of Pizza Port in Solana Beach Tomme Arthur and Jim Comstock of Comstock and Associates who formed the partnership responsible for the stewardship of these beers.
Mile High Wine and Spirits brings you the following Lost Abbey brews for your enjoyment:
Lost Abbey Devotion - Belgian Pale Ale
From Michael Jackson’s Tasting Notes (the late Champion of Beer, not the pop king):
"It is a freshly fragrant and blonde abbey-style ale. Some added hoppiness give it a floral and truly California touch. At 6.25% alcohol it is a dangerously drinkable brew that makes a wonderful and sophisticated cocktail beer for the warmer months."

Lost Abbey Red Barn Ale - Saison
This Farmhouse Ale traces its roots to the small rustic breweries of Southern Belgium. The word Saison comes to us from the French language and it means Season. Lightly spiced with Organic Ginger, Orange Peels, Black Pepper and Grains of Paradise, this brew promises to quench your thirst on the hottest days or whenever you are in need of refreshment.

Lost Abbey Avant Garde - Biere de Garde
From the French word “Garde” meaning something worth keeping, this Biere de Garde styled Farmhouse Ale is a most delicious companion to a loaf of freshly baked bread from the oven. Grab a seat on the porch, some soft cheese and a tree ripened apple from your grandmother’s old orchard. Deep gold in color with hints of biscuits, caramel and fresh baked bread, this beer is sure to delight the senses and palates of all who consume it.

Lost Abbey Lost & Found - Dubbel (plus raisins)
Lost and Found was modeled after the great Trappist and Monastic beers that inspired the founding of the Lost Abbey Brewery. A richly deep garnet colored ale created from a blend of Domestic and imported malts. As part of the Abbey's commitment to interesting brewing endeavors, Chef Vince created a special raisin puree for this beer. Malts, raisins and a fantastic yeast strain working in harmony produce a beer of amazing complexity and depth.

Lost Abbey Inferno Ale - Strong Belgian Pale Ale
A Duvel-inspired golden ale, Inferno Ale isn't nearly as sinful as it seems. It pours a hazy pale orange body with a thin white head. The aroma is light and full of honey and spices. Pale malt, honey, and subtle floral and spice notes mark this balanced ale. With a smooth, creamy texture and dry finish, this one will disappear from your glass before you know what happened.

Lost Abbey 10 Commandments - Quadrupel (with honey, raisns and rosemary)
A stronger version of Lost and Found Abbey Ale brewed to a more contemplative alcohol content. Massive in every stretch of the brewing way possible this is the sort of beer that will remind a beer drinker who considers themselves a saint that even saints stray as sinners from time to time. Not for the faint of heart, this beer weighs in at a heavenly 9% ABV. |
